NEWS | CMETI-EC gets accredited for UNESCO clubs, first in ISU Echague

Through successfully completing the requirements and passing the interview process via zoom last Wednesday, November 23, the Confederation of Multiskilled Educators on Technology and Innovation-Echague Chapter (CMETI-EC) of the College of Education was recognized as one of the accreditated organizations for Clubs for UNESCO in the Philippines.

The National Coordinating Body of Clubs for UNESCO in the Philippines (NCBUP) announced today the 81 accredited organizations nationwide. Among which is the CMETI-EC headed by Alexis Mae Aquino — organization chairperson, Marc Kendwin Saet — vice chairperson, and Sir Christian Lloyd Taguba — adviser.

CMETI-EC is also one of the first Clubs for UNESCO accredited organizations in the whole Isabela State University system together with the League of Future Nurses from ISU-Ilagan Campus.

Clubs for UNESCO is a global, civil society movement of students, professionals and non-governmental organizations that support UNESCO at the grass-roots level. It aims to contribute to peace and security by promoting international cooperation in education, sciences, culture, communication and information.

As per Alexis Aquino, a lot of paper jobs had to be done to meet the requirements and had to undergo certain stages to complete the accreditation.

“A lot of paper jobs syempre, but our adviser sir Christian Lloyd Taguba prepared it ahead naman. They need to countercheck it if fit kami or magiging asset ba kami ng UNESCO club if ma accredit kami. Then the first and final interview which is super hirap.” She stated.

For Saet, the journey was never easy as it was challenging yet worth it due to their team’s commendable performance.

“Very challenging and at the same time nakaka pressure gawa ng it’s not that simple to be one of the luckiest Organization para ma accredited by one of the most prestigious organizations not only here but also internationally. All worth it pa din kasi naging maganda ang performance ng team namin, syempre with guidance and full support of our advisers including our College Dean. They really played a great role in our success.” He told The Forum.

Both Aquino and Saet felt proud and excited for achieving another milestone for their organization bringing pride to the campus and to the university.

“Syempre very proud naman kasi gaya ng sabi namin hindi siya naging madaling journey. Ang inisip lang namin it’s now or never, di lang namin dala ang name mg Org namin eh, Buong ISU ang dala namin.” Said Saet.

“Super proud, and we can’t remove the excitement for our awarding Ceremony this December on Manila Grand Opera Hotel. We are not only bringing CMETI in this journey but we are bringing the whole Isabela State University. And I am confident to say that we will surely portray exellence in implementing programs and activities that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Para sa CMETI at para sa ISU!” Aquino exclaimed.

The awarding of certificate of accreditation will be held on December 9 to 11, 2023 at the Manila Grand Opera Hall during the International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO (Y4U).

ISU’s dedication to contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly SDGs 4 Quality Education, 17 Partnership for the Goals is a proof that it is a university for people, nature, and entrepreneurship.
