INSTITUTE MISSION

The Institute of Fisheries of ISU-Echague is committed to providing competent fisheries professionals who can contribute better to sustainable and responsible fisheries and a total approach to freshwater and marine coastal environments and would be flexible in tackling job opportunities in both private and government sectors.

GOALS

The Institute of Fisheries aims to produce the following:

  1. Globally competitive graduates in the areas of sustainable aquaculture, capture fisheries, post-harvest and aquatic resources and ecology;
  2. Fisheries professionals imbued with high level of integrity, nationalism and ethical standards;
  3. Leaders in their profession and respective communities; and
  4. Professionals with knowledge, skills and positive attitudes in fisheries research, resource management, instruction, extension, production and marketing.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES OF THE BS FISHERIES AND AQUATIC RESOURCES

The graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences program must be able to:

  1. Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice (PQF level 6 descriptor);
  2. Effectively communicate orally and in writing using both English and Filipino;
  3. Work effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams (PQF level 6 descriptor);
  4. Act in recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibilities;
  5. Preserve and promote “Filipino historical and cultural heritage” (RA 7722)
  6. Generate and share knowledge relevant to specific fields in the study of agriculture education;
  7. Formulate and implement agricultural development plans and programs;
  8. Develop, operate and manage aquaculture production systems;
  9. Utilize fisheries resources using innovative fishing methods which are responsible and sustainable;
  10. Apply post-harvest practices that are compliant to international standards for food safety and quality;
  11. Manage and protect the integrity and quality of aquatic ecosystems and resources.
