In Senator Imee R. Marcos’ presence, 2000 beneficiaries from the entire Isabela State University (ISU) system received their educational assistance amounting to P5000 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), today, November 05.

This program was aimed at providing support to students who are financially struggling and are identified as underprivileged.

Through the collaborative efforts of the ISU’s Office of Students Affairs and Services (OSAS) and Provincial and Municipal SWDs, they conducted series of interviews and screening to select and verify the students’ applications.

This was done to ensure that the qualified recipients deserved the cash assistance and to prevent any duplication of benefits from the department.

Isabela Governor Rodito Albano and Vice Governor Faustino “Bojie” Dy also attended the payout program, which was held at the ISU Echague (ISUE) Amphitheater.

Among the beneficiaries, Caren Joy Cadorna, a BS Management Accounting in ISUE expressed that she is thankful to receive such assistance from the senator.

“Hindi ko maexplain iyong tuwa at galak na napasama ako sa nabigyan ng AICS kaya maraming maraming salamat Senator Imee R. Marcos at DSWD sa educational assistance na inyong binigay, makakaasa po kayong gagamitin ko ito sa pangangailangan ko bilang isang estudyante,” Cadorna stated.

University President Ricmar P. Aquino acknowledged the Senator’s initiative and support, expressing gratitude for the institution’s establishment in 1978, which was attributable to her late father, former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.

Furthermore, the senator also handed 10 desktop computer sets to the Supreme Student Council (SSC) in an effort to improve their services in catering the needs of every ISU students.

Lastly, this program touches our gear towards the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals numbers 1-No Poverty, 4-Quality Education, 16- Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and 17- Partnership for the Goals.
