ISU students from Agriculture and Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering get the chance to engage in a hands-on experience on modern farming techniques and mechanized farm equipment in a 2-day workshop with Kubota Philippines and Equity Machineries Incorporated.

Dr. Jonathan N. Nayga, Dean of the ISU-Echague College of Agriculture, who joined the graduating students in their field engagement this morning (May 9), said that the undertaking will be instrumental in introducing contemporary practices in agriculture.

“We are so very happy with the partnership with Equity Machineries and Kubota Philippines as we conduct these trainings for our students in preparation for farm mechanization and farm modernization”, said Dr. Nayga.

This is in support to the program of the University on Smart and Precision Agriculture, introducing science-driven and innovative approaches on agriculture to vitalize and upscale competency among rural and countryside practices.

“We would like to share our knowledge, these new machineries to our students of the ISU. We are very happy that the President of ISU (Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino) together with the academe, welcomed us here”, said Mr. Mark Anthony Perez, CEO of Equity Machineries based at Cauayan City.

Mr. Perez also told that this will be a continuing practice, saying this is already a “tradition” and plans to continue this learning engagement every year.

“We have the machineries, we have the resources, we wanted to share our blessings with our students- they are our future”, told Mr. Perez.

In the field culmination, the graduating students took turns in the practice of contemporary workflow of mechanized agriculture- from auto-seeder preparation, land preparation, combined harvesting, and fertilizer application through drone spraying.
